Elderly Woman Found Dead In Retention Pond

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — An 83-year-old woman from Elk Grove Village was found dead Monday in a pond, according to reports.

A resident notified law enforcement of the death about 6:30 a.m., and authorities responded to the retention pond in the 1000 block of Wellington Avenue in Elk Grove Village, according to police.

"Information obtained during the investigation indicated there were no signs of foul play and the person intentionally entered the water," police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled the death to be a suicide, according to the Daily Herald.
