Elk Grove Village Man Sentenced On Child Porn Charges

An Elk Grove Village man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for sharing videos of child pornography.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – An Elk Grove Village man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for sharing videos of child pornography with users of an online messaging platform.

According to officials, Austin Burchert, 22, had more than 3,000 images and 54 videos of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his phone.

In February 2018, he shared 13 images and a video file in a chat group with approximately 50 people on Kik. One of the people in the chat group was an undercover law enforcement agent.

Burchert pleaded guilty in 2020 to federal charges of transportation of child pornography. In addition to the prison sentence, he was also ordered to pay $65,000 in restitution to the known victims.
