Felon Crossing Railroad Tracks Found With Cocaine: Palatine PD

The Arlington Heights man was charged with three felonies following the Saturday incident.

PALATINE, IL — A convicted felon, who police said was unlawfully crossing railroad tracks while the gates were down and warning signals were active Saturday night, was found in possession of narcotics. Brian G. Lister, 37, of Arlington Heights, is accused of three felonies, a misdemeanor, and a petty offense.

Lister is due in court Tuesday to face the following charges:

  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class X Felony)
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) (Class 1 Felony)
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (amphetamine – Schedule II) (Class 4 Felony)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Pedestrian disobeying a traffic control device (Petty Offense)

At around 5:25 p.m. Saturday, Palatine police were on foot patrol near N. Brockway Street and W. Wilson Street when they saw Lister illegally crossing the railroad tracks. He then reportedly entered a blue Audi R8 parked nearby.

As they approached the vehicle, one officer saw Lister seated in the driver's seat in possession of cocaine. A subsequent search of Lister and his vehicle uncovered additional narcotics, including approximately 30 grams of cocaine and pills containing amphetamine.
