Man Gets Felony Stalking Charge For Showing Up At Lot: Des Plaines PD

A Romeoville man met up with the victim last month in a parking lot on Wolf Road, according to police.

DES PLAINES, IL — A Romeoville man has been charged with felony stalking after confronting a woman who has an order of protection against him. Edgar Hernandez, 29, of the 700 block of Cascade Avenue, was charged with felony stalking, along with a misdemeanor of violation of an order of protection, following the incident last month.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges. Hernandez is being held at the Cook County Jail until his next court date on March 14.

According to police, on Jan. 25, the victim informed police she had an order of protection against Hernandez, who is not to have any contact with her. The victim was in a parking lot in the 700 block of Wolf Road when Hernandez reportedly ran up to her to speak with her. The victim said she was unaware how Hernandez knew where she was, and he left the scene prior to police arrival.

Police spoke with Hernandez over the phone, who they say admitted to violating the order. He was asked to come to the station, and he relayed he would call the officer back. The officer attempted to contact Hernandez several times and was met with no answer.

After a thorough investigation, officers made contact with Hernandez, who agreed to turn himself in to the station last Thursday.
