Former Coach Appears In Court In Texting Case
The former basketball coach at St. Viator High School is accused of sending inappropriate texts to students.
COOK COUNTY, IL — A former basketball coach at St. Viator High School accused of sending inappropriate text messages to students made his first court appearance on Wednesday. Joseph Majkowski, 65, of Arlington Heights, is charged with four counts of disorderly conduct and was assigned another hearing date of Oct. 1 during Wednesday's hearing.
Majkowski was arrested and charged earlier this month following a two-month investigation by the Arlington Heights Police Department.
In a statement, school officials said they were "saddened" by the news. School president Brian Liedlich added that school officials learned of the inappropriate text messages in early June and alerted the Illinois Department of Children, according to an earlier report on the Daily Herald.
