Holiday Trash Pickup: When Can Christmas Trees Hit the Curb in Arlington Heights?

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Christmas and New Year's Day holidays mean regular garbage pickup will shift days for village residents.

Here's this year's holiday schedule from Groot, which provides trash collection for Arlington Heights, according to the village's website. The schedule shows the original pickup day followed by the new pickup day:

Week of Dec. 26

• Monday (north of Oakton Street and west of Arlington Heights Road) garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Tuesday, Dec. 27 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 30).
• Tuesday (south of Oakton Street and west of Arlington Heights Road) garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 28 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 31).
• Thursday (north of Oakton Street and east of Arlington Heights Road) garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Friday, Dec. 30 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 27).
• Friday (south of Oakton Street and east of Arlington Heights Road) garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Saturday, Dec. 31 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 28).

Week of Jan. 2

• Monday garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Tuesday, Jan. 3 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Friday, Jan. 6).
• Tuesday garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Wednesday, Jan. 4 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 7).
• Thursday garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Friday, Jan. 6 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Tuesday, Jan. 3).
• Friday garbage, recycling, and yardwaste will be collected Saturday, Jan. 7 (for those with twice a week refuse collection, garbage only will be picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 4).

Trash pickup for Christmas trees will begin on scheduled collection days from Jan. 3-14. Landscape waste stickers aren't required for Christmas tree collection.
