Identity Of Driver Killed In Red Light Crash Released: Des Plaines PD
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the Saturday night crash and attempted life-saving attempts on the 58-year-old man.
DES PLAINES, IL — The identity of a man killed Saturday night in a fatal crash in Des Plaines has been released. Police said Vladimir Barkovskiy, 58, of the 7000 block of W. Roscoe St., Chicago, was pronounced dead at the scene, resulting from injuries sustained in the crash.
According to police, a 2008 Nissan Rouge, driven by Barkovskiy, was traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road, approaching Wolf Road, at 8:25 p.m. when it struck the rear of a 2005 Chevrolet Express van. The van was stopped eastbound at Algonquin road at a red light on Wolf Road.
Des Plaines firefighters arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving attempts on the driver of the Nissan, but he was pronounced dead.

Police said Monday the crash remains under investigation.
