Identity Of Victim In Fatal Stabbing Released: Des Plaines PD

Investigators are still trying to determine the reason for the Wednesday night altercation and identify the suspect.

DES PLAINES, IL — The identity of a victim in Wednesday's fatal stabbing at a Burger King restaurant in Des Plaines has been released. Mario Jara-Antemante, 28, of Mount Prospect, died from multiple stab wounds at an area hospital following the incident.

Police said Jara-Antemante was involved in a confrontation outside the Burger King at 860 S. Elmhurst Road with an unknown male subject, who reportedly chased the victim into the restaurant and stabbed him inside.

According to police, a fight between two men occurred at around 5:50 p.m. at the location. When police arrived on the scene, the other person involved in the fight had fled the area. Police treated a man with multiple stab wounds prior to taking him to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police believe the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public.

Police said Thursday that investigators are still trying to determine the reason for the altercation and identify the suspect.
