K9 Smells Felony Amount Of Cannabis In Mail Packages: Des Plaines PD
A Mount Prospect resident was charged with two felonies stemming from the incident last week.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A Mount Prospect man is facing several felonies following an arrest last week after a K9 from the Des Plaines Task Force was positively alerted to the presence of narcotics inside several packages he had accepted. Daniel Frytz, 60, of the 200 block of S. Wa Pella Avenue, was charged with felony possession of cannabis (2,000 grams to 5,000 grams), possession with intent to deliver cannabis (2,000 grams to 5,000 grams).
Frytz, who was arrested May 30, was released following his arrest.
According to police, the K9 officer was working with the United States Postal inspection service, who were investigating a parcel addressed to the 200 block of S. Wa Pella on May 30. After the K9 identified the packages as having narcotics inside, a search warrant was obtained for the residence listed on the package.

Soon thereafter, police met with Frytz, and evidence was recovered inside his home verifying he had accepted the packages.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the felony charges.
