Loaded Gun, Cannabis Found During Stop For Speeding: Des Plaines PD
A 22-year-old Des Plaines resident was charged with a felony, a misdemeanor and was ticketed during a Sunday traffic stop.

DES PLAINES, IL — A traffic stop for speeding turned into multiple charges for a 22-year-old Des Plaines man. Adrian Marin, of the 800 block of E. Oakton Street, is accused of felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding following a Sunday night traffic stop.
Marin was released following his arrest and assigned a future court date.
According to police, a patrol in the area of Algonquin and Mount Prospect roads at 9:02 p.m. clocked Marin speeding (52 mph in a 35 mph zone) in his Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Algonquin.

During the subsequent traffic stop, police noted all windows to the vehicle were rolled down and a strong odor of cannabis being emitted from the car. While speaking with Marin, police saw drug paraphernalia in the center console and two cans of alcohol in front of the passenger seat. Marin was told to step out of the car due to the items being in plain view
Police found a pink container with cannabis residue in the driver's door compartment, a glass pipe with burnt cannabis residue and a loaded black 9mm handgun in the center console. According to police, Marin did have a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card, but no Concealed Carry License.

Marin was arrested and taken to the Des Plaines police station for booking. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the felony charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Marin also received a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia, and was ticketed for speeding (15-20 mph over the posted speed limit).
