Man Accused in Retail Theft Ring Caught in Arlington Heights Pleads Guilty
Zvanko Dobobrov was part of a crew that targeted Apple and Lego items and snatched 2 guns, a Mercedes and thousands in merchandise and cash.

A Northbrook man accused of being part of a retail theft crew responsible for looting thousands of dollars in merchandise and cash from suburban stores pleaded guilty, the Daily Herald reports.

Zvanko Dobobrov, 22, was arrested and charged in February 2015 with continuing a financial crime enterprise as part of monthslong investigation by Arlington Heights police and other area law enforcement agencies. Dobobrov was given two years' probation for his plea, the Herald reports.

Three other Northbrook residents also were arrested at the time in connection with the investigation, and their court date is May 27.
According to police, Dobobrov and his crew would distract store guards then steal items to sell on an online auction site. The ring, which targeted Apple, Samsung and Lego products, netted more than $20,000 in merchandise from businesses, as well as more than $100,000 in cash, $45,000 in jewelry, two firearms and a Mercedes-Benz.

In 2012, Dobobrov was arrested and charged with felony stealing in connection with the theft of 30 cell phones from a St. Louis-area store.
