Stranger Strangles Woman During Sexual Assault In Driveway: Mount Prospect PD
A family member heard the woman's screams and rushed to help her during the attack, police said.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A resident was sexually assaulted and strangled in her driveway last weekend after returning home by a man she told police she didn't know. Andres Morales Gonzalez, 35, no permanent address, was charged with felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery involving strangulation, and unlawful restraint following his arrest Wednesday.
According to Mount Prospect police, Morales Gonzales was ordered detained Thursday until his next court date on Feb. 13. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges.
At around 12:33 a.m. Jan. 17, police responded to a report of an unknown problem at a residence in the 100 block of North Main Street (Route 83). Upon arrival, police said they found a person trying to pull a man off a woman on the ground. Officers were able to gain control of the man, later identified as Morales Gonzalez, and place him in handcuffs.

During the initial investigation, police learned Morales Gonzalez had reportedly tackled the victim from behind in the driveway, before proceeding to slam the woman's head into the pavement multiple times. He then began strangling her with his arm while also sexually assaulting her.
Police said the victim's family heard her screaming, exited the home and found Morales Gonzalez on top of her. One of the family members began wrestling him off the victim when police arrived and made the arrest.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for her injuries from the attack, which police said were non-life threatening. The victim did not know Morales Gonzalez and had never seen him before.
After Morales Gonzalez was taken into custody, he was also taken to a local hospital for an evaluation. An officer remained with Morales Gonzalez until he was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, and taken back to the police headquarters.
