MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — Two men are facing multiple felonies following a shooting last year during a targeted attack on a Mount Prospect resident.

Evidence at the scene identified as Montague and Cavender as the two men, according to police. Detectives conducted an "extensive" canvass of the area and were able to locate video evidence of Cavender driving the SUV that had fled the scene. Police also found digital evidence that placed both men in the immediate vicinity of the shooting when it occurred.

After executing a search warrant on a cell phone belonging to Cavender, conversations between the two men confirmed the shooting was planned, and the victim had been targeted.

In addition, a shell casing recovered from the scene was a ballistic match to an attempted murder case in another jurisdiction. Police said Cavender has an active warrant for his arrest for his involvement in that incident.

Following his arrest, Montague was taken to a detention hearing on April 5, where he was ordered to be detained until his next court appearance, set for April 26.
