• False Alarm: Boeing 747 Cargo Jet Approaches O'Hare Over Arlington Heights with Fire Detector Activation in Lower Belly Cargo Deck, All Runways Closed for Landing (arlingtoncardinal.com) — A Boeing 747 cargo jet approaching O'Hare declared a Mayday Thursday night after a fire alarm in its cargo hold, shortly after flying over Euclid Avenue in Arlington Heights at about 5,000 feet. Chicago Fire Department crews met the plane on the runway, found no signs of fire, and all runways were gradually reopened once the false alarm was confirmed.
