Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car in Hoffman Estates

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — An Aurora man was killed Monday night after being struck by a car while he was walking in the eastbound lane of Higgins Road. Jamal Johnson, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The accident, which happened at around 9:21 p.m., was in the area of Higgins Road and Governors Lane. Members of the Hoffman Estates police and fire departments treated Johnson. He was pronounced dead at 9:33 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The incident is being investigated by the Hoffman Estates Police Traffic Division and the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, police tell Patch. At this time, there is no indication that speed, alcohol or drugs were a contributing causes to the incident, according to police.
