DES PLAINES, IL —Police are working to identify a man who beat and robbed another man of thousands of dollars outside of Rivers Casino in Des Plaines early Sunday morning.

According to The Chicago Tribune, police said the victim stated he met the man on Saturday night while he was gambling in the casino. The two ate dinner together and played poker together before they left around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday.

When the men got to the victim's vehicle in the parking lot, the suspect beat the victim and took $7,000 in cash from the victim's pocket, police said.

A security video captured the suspect running through the parking lot and up to a parking garage. He then got in a black pickup truck and drove away. The suspect appears to be 6 feet tall and 215 pounds, with short brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt that both had a tool company logo printed on them.

Police warn casino customers to be careful with their cash, although Commander Chris Mierzwa told The Chicago Tribune that this was an unusual occurrence at the casino.

"I wouldn't be flamboyant with my money," said Mierzwa. "I would keep it hidden and not let people know how much money I had."
