Possible Link Between New Year's Day Armed Robbery, Earlier Carjacking Investigated by Police
Both incidents happened at Arlington Heights apartment complexes within blocks of each other nearly a week apart.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Police are investigating a possible connection between an armed robbery on New Year's Day and a carjacking nearly a week earlier that both happened at apartment complexes blocks away from each other, the Daily Herald reports.
A woman was held up at about 1:38 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, in the lobby of her residential building in the 2300 block of South Goebbert Road after the suspect followed her from the parking lot, the report stated. The armed robber stole the purse of the victim, who told police she noticed the man as she parked her car, the report added.
The victim described the armed robber as a 6-foot tall black man in his 20s with a medium build, the report stated. He was wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, a knit winter hat and jeans during the incident, the report added.

On Dec. 23, an armed carjacker stole a 2008 Pontiac G6 at gunpoint from a woman in the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road. Police released a sketch of the suspect, who was described as 5-foot-9 with a medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The Pontiac has Illinois license plates, Z203711.
