Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Set For Oct. 24

The Arlington Heights Police Department, In coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), are providing an opportunity on Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the public to surrender unwanted, expired, and unused pharmaceuticals and over the counter medication to law enforcement officers for proper disposal.

The collection site for the pharmaceuticals is the Arlington Heights Police Department, located at 200 E. Sigwalt St. The service is free and anonymous. Tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted, though vape cartridges and vaping devices with the batteries removed will be accepted for disposal.

Last October, Americans turned in nearly 441.5 tons (882,919 pounds) of prescription drugs at more than 6,100 sites operated by the DEA and almost 5,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
