Rolling Meadows To Host A Recycling Event Oct. 3
Only residents of a SWANCC community are eligible to participate and IDs will be checked for verification of residency.

On Saturday, October 3, 2020, the City of Rolling Meadows will host a Document Destruction and Electronics Recycling Event at the Public Works Building, 3900 Berdnick Street, from 9 a.m. to noon. Only residents of a SWANCC community are eligible to participate and IDs will be checked for verification of residency (https://www.swancc.org/swancc-member-communities). Materials will not be accepted from businesses (at-home, small or large), schools, or institutions. Residents will be limited to six (6) boxes or bags.

All participants must follow these Safety Guidelines:
▪ Residents must wear a mask and remain in their vehicle while on property.

▪ IDs will be checked though a closed window to verify residency.
▪ Residents will unlock/open the trunk from inside the vehicle and allow staff to unload the items.
▪ Paper documents should be contained in one area in the back of vehicle in paper bags or small boxes – not in plastic bags! Boxes and bags will be returned to the resident.
▪ If a person has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus or is experiencing symptoms, Do Not attend this event.
▪ Site/event coordinator may refuse service if a resident fails to comply with the Safety Guidelines.
About Paper: Residents can bring up to six (6) file-sized boxes or paper bags of sensitive documents containing personal information, such as medical history forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. Paper documents will be shredded on site.
Plastic spines/covers and metal clips/binders MUST BE removed from all documents. DO NOT bring paper in plastic bags. DO NOT include photos, slides, negatives, books, store receipts, magazines, greeting cards or newspapers or any non-paper item.
About Electronics: Please remove electronics from plastic packaging and boxes prior to bringing to a SWANCC event.
Acceptable Materials:
Cable Receivers, Cell Phones, Computer Cables, Computer Monitors, Computers (Desktop, Notebook, Tablet), Converter Boxes, Desktop Fax Machines and Printers, Keyboards, Mice, MP3 Players, Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs), Satellite Receivers, Scanners, Televisions, Video Game Consoles, Video Recorders/Players and Zip Drives.
“SWANCC provides a variety of Special Material Programs to assist its residents with the task of recycling banned electronics and documents with personal information, so they can be recycled properly and made into new products when possible,” stated Mary Allen, SWANCC Recycling and Education Director.
