Runners Enjoyed ‘No Fly Zone’ at Annual ‘Rock n Run the Runway'

This past Saturday, more than 500 runners and walkers enjoyed a unique ‘no fly zone’ 5K event, ‘Rock n Run the Runway,’ at the Chicago Executive Airport. All participants raced on or strolled along the airport’s runways where they also experienced a collection of aircraft parked along the route.

Twenty-two medals were presented to first, second, and third place finishers for both male and females in their age groups. Congressman Brad Schneider sounded the start gun for the registrants representing five states and ages 3 to 81.

“Thanks to all of the participants and fans who came out to have fun this weekend,” says Jeffrey Miller, Executive Director, Chicago Executive Airport. “Anytime we can share our beautiful airport with the community is a great day!”

The 9th annual ‘Rock and Run the Runway’ was open to the public and hosted by the Chicago Executive Airport. The event is USA Track & Field-certified and chip timed. Next year’s event will be held on July 1, 2023.
