School Board Elections: District 59 Incumbents Hold Seats; District 214 Slate Keeps Undefeated Streak

Plus, a roundup of the other school board races affecting Arlington Heights.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — School boards for five districts serving Arlington Heights students held elections for open seats Tuesday.

Here's a look at the unofficial election results, according to the Cook County Clerk's Office. Election officials have up to three weeks to certify results. Candidates with the highest vote totals are in bold:

Community Consolidated School District 59

Four-year seat; all 39 precincts reporting; 3,075 votes

  • Janice A. Krinsky: 21.77% (2,031)
  • Sharon Roberts: 22.79% (2,127)
  • Karen Osmanski: 22.46% (2,096)
  • Mardell B. Schumacher: 18.86% (1,760)
  • Gary Ofisher: 14.11% (1,317)

Township High School District 214

Four-year seat; 149 of 150 precincts reporting; 15,249 votes

  • Mark Hineman: 17.81% (7,886)
  • Kevin Lindell: 10.79% (4,777)
  • Benjamin ''Ben'' Scherr: 9.7% (4,296)
  • Leonard ''Lenny'' Walker: 14.19% (6,283)
  • Mildred (Millie) Palmer: 18.91% (8,373)
  • Todd B Younger: 14.57% (6,450)
  • Frank J. Biga III: 6.23% (2,757)
  • Richard Hamen: 7.79% (3,451)

Incumbents Hineman and Younger, along with Palmer and Walker, were part of the Supporters of District 214 slate, which originally formed in 2007. Since then, candidates on the slate have been undefeated in school board elections, according to the Daily Herald.
