Science Lab Equipment Catches Fire at Christian Academy

The blaze caused minor damage to Christian Liberty Academy on Sunday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A small fire broke out at Christian Liberty Academy over the weekend after equipment in a science lab ignited, the Daily Herald reports.

Investigators still don't know what caused the tabletop equipment to catch fire, the report stated. The blaze caused around $1,000 of damage to items in the school, 502 W. Euclid Ave., and the building also suffered some minor smoke damge, the report added.

The Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to an alarm at the school at around 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, the report stated. Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly and then ventilated the smoke from the building, the report added.

Despite the damage, fire department officials said the school was still safe to occupy, the Herald reports.
