Schaumburg Police Release Thanksgiving Enforcement Numbers
During the 10 days, grant-funded officers cited 157 drivers for distracted or negligent driving.
SCHAUMBURG, IL — If you saw more police on the roads than usual at the end of last month, there was a reason. Between Nov. 18-28, the Schaumburg Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign as part of the Thanksgiving holiday season.
With a goal of reminding motorists to buckle up and drive sober, grant-funded officers cited drivers for the following violations:
- Distracted/negligent driving — 157 citations
- Seatbelt (front) — 73
- Seatbelt (back) — 1
- Speeding — 11
- Improper lane usage — 1
- No insurance — 3
- Suspended license — 3
- Expired registration — 4
- No valid driver's license — 1
Arrests made by grant-funded officers included driving with a suspended license (3), fictitious driver's license (1), no valid driver's license (1), warrant (1), unlawful possession of cannabis (2).

The "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" mobilization was conducted by the Schaumburg Police Department and other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities.
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide effort.
