Thief Steals Handicap Placard In BMW: Arlington Heights PD Blotter
The owner told police it was parked on the west side of a business in the 700 block of W. Northwest Highway when the theft occurred.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Joseph D. Hernandez, 32, is accused of driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report persona injury from an accident, driving on a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:55 a.m. Nov. 7, at Haven Golf and Algonquin roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 8.
PROBATION VIOLATION

Earnest Spearman, 37, had an in-state warrant for a probation violation, and was arrested at 7:59 p.m. Nov. 7, in the 700 block of E. Golf Road.
VIOLATION OF BAIL BOND
Joshua V. Splitt, 34, had an in-state warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 3:51 p.m. Nov. 6, in the 10 block of W. Golf Road.

INCIDENTS
STOLEN AUTO
- A resident in the 800 block of W. Rand Road reported on Oct. 23 that someone had stolen their 2018 white Infiniti from the parking lot.
- A resident in the 2100 block of S. Tonne Drive reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 26, someone stole his 2006 Honda CBR1000 Motorcycle from the parking lot.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- An employee at Shiny Nails, 276 W. Rand Road, reported at 10:55 p.m. Oct. 23, someone attempted to gain entry in to the business. The subject was unsuccessful, but caused damage to the front door. The subject was described as a male, wearing jeans, a gray or light-colored hoodie with the hood up and a surgical mask.
- A resident in the 500 block of E. Fairview Street reported at 7:55 p.m. Oct. 27, someone used an unknown item to shatter a window pane on his storm door. Immediately after the damage, the victim saw a group of juveniles walking away from his residence.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
- A resident in the 300 block of S. Evergreen Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 24, someone shattered the passenger window on his 2016 Ford Transit van and subsequently stole several tools.
- A complainant reported that between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24, someone shattered the front driver’s side window, entered her 2013 Chevrolet SUV, and stole her purse while it was parked at Clearbrook, 1835 W. Central Road.
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS OR ACCESSORIES
- A resident in the 1200 block of N. Village Drive called police to report that between Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 someone stole the catalytic converter off his 2003 Honda.
- A complainant reported that between Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, someone stole the catalytic converter off his 2008 Hyundai while it was parked in the 1200 block of S. New Wilke Road.
- A resident in the 1500 block of N. Windsor Drive reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 31, someone stole the catalytic converters off their 2015 Kia and 2012 Toyota.
- Residents in the 600 and 700 blocks of W. Rand Road reported someone stole the catalytic converters off their 2012 Volkswagen and 2006 Acura during the overnight hours of Nov. 3.
- A citizen called police to report that between 2 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. Nov. 2, someone entered his BMW which was parked on the west side of a business in the 700 block of W. Northwest Highway and stole a handicap placard.
THEFT
A member at XSport Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road, reported that between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 4, someone stole cash and credit cards from his wallet, which were secured inside a locker within the men’s locker room. The victim's credit cards were subsequently used to make unauthorized purchases.
