Vehicle Thefts Part Of 'Recent Crime Trend' In Arlington Heights, Surrounding Area: Police
Police said the targeted vehicles have predominately been Hyundai and Kia brands.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Police are warning residents to take precautions following a recent crime trend of vehicles being stolen in Arlington Heights and the surrounding suburbs. In a Tuesday community alert, police said they have received four reports of stolen automobiles and five reports of vehicles being damaged during an assumed attempt to steal the vehicles in the last two weeks.
According to the alert, the incidents reported occurred during the evening/overnight hours and are not isolated to just one area or location in the village. In addition, the targeted vehicles have predominately been Hyundai and Kia brands, but in two incidents, they were Toyota and Ford cars.

- When possible, park in well-lighted areas
- Always lock your vehicles
- Report any suspicious behavior to the Arlington Heights Police Department (911)
- Vehicle owners may consider purchasing an anti-theft device such as a steering wheel lock to further deter criminals from targeting their vehicles
