Woman Makes False Sexual Assault Report to Get Back at Ex-Boyfriend: Police

Lauren M. Ryan admitted she lied when she told Schaumburg police she was attacked by her boyfriend after they broke up.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Police are accusing a Pennsylvania woman of filing a false report concerning a sexual assault that led to a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, K9 units and a helicopter, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Lauren M. Ryan, 20, of York, PA, was charged with felony disorderly conduct-false report and was released on $10,000 bail Thursday. Ryan also has a previous conviction of filing a false police report in Pennsylvania, the report stated.

Prosecutors claim Ryan told Schaumburg police Tuesday that her boyfriend beat and sexually assaulted after the couple broke up, the Tribune reports. Ryan was treated at an Arlington Heights hospital, while authorities searched for her ex, the report added. When he was found at a nearby restaurant, the ex-boyfriend, who was not identified, fled but was caught shortly after, according to the report.

Eventually, Ryan admitted to making up the report as revenge against her ex for breaking up with her, the Tribune reports. The ex-boyfriend also was cited for trespassing, but the report did not indicate what that stemmed from.
