Workers Save Lame Duck Stuck In A Tree From The Wind
The female mallard injured its wing and is expected to make a full recovery, the village says.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Municipal workers played "duck, duck, unloose" with a female mallard duck that was caught in a tree after becoming tangled in kite string Wednesday, according to the village.
An arlington Heights Forestry and Animal Control crew rescued the duck after police spotted it hanging by a single wing from a tree in Sunset Meadows. Workers used a cherry picker to untangle the mallard and free her from.
The mallard is expected to fully recover from her arboreal ordeal, the village said. Her wing was fractured, and she is being treated at a Barrington rehab center, according to the Daily Herald.
