15 Displaced From Heavy Fire At 3-Story Apartment Building: Aurora FD
Two residents were injured in the Village Green Drive fire but refused hospital transport, officials said.
AURORA, IL — Fifteen people were displaced after a fire erupted Feb. 4 in a three-story apartment complex in the 2800 block of Village Green Drive.
Crews found heavy smoke showing from the roof of the building when they arrived at about 11:09 a.m. The alarm was upgraded twice, bringing a total of 36 firefighters to the scene, officials said Tuesday.
The fire was located and contained in a third-floor unit. While Aurora police evacuated the building, Engine Company firefighters deployed hose lines, and Truck Company crews searched for victims, finding none, and cut a hole in the roof to ventilate the building, officials said.

Paramedics assessed two residents who sustained minor injuries but signed refusal forms declining hospital transport. No firefighters were injured.
The unit where the fire starts as well as two apartments below were deemed uninhabitable due to sustained fire and water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
