3 Building Administrators Hired At East Aurora School District 131
Principals were appointed at East Aurora High School and Gates Elementary School, and a dean has been chosen for Simmons Middle School.

AURORA, IL — D131 is pleased to announce the appointment of three building administrators for the upcoming school year, including a new principal for East Aurora High School, a principal for Gates Elementary School, and a Dean of Students at Simmons Middle School.
Kevin Marten Named Principal of East Aurora High School

A familiar and respected leader within the East Aurora community, Marten currently serves as Associate Principal for School Improvement at East Aurora High School. In this role, he has played a key part in advancing student achievement, expanding academic opportunities, and strengthening systems of support for students and staff.
Marten brings more than a decade of educational leadership experience, having served as a middle school assistant principal, high school division chair, and Associate Principal at EAHS since 2022. He has led the development and implementation of the school’s improvement plan, using student achievement and graduation data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes for all students.

Under his leadership, East Aurora High School has experienced growth in key student success indicators, including increased graduation rates, expanded participation in Advanced Placement and dual-credit coursework, and continued growth in the Seal of Biliteracy program. He has also overseen large-scale assessment efforts as the school’s PSAT/SAT Coordinator and supported the implementation of equitable grading practices focused on student growth.
Prior to joining East Aurora, Marten served as Assistant Principal at Ira Jones Middle School in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. He began his career as a middle school social studies and language arts teacher.
Marten holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Arts in History Education from Western Illinois University. He also holds endorsements in English, Social Science, and Special Education (LBS-1).
Tenita Ramey Named Principal of Gates Elementary School
Ramey currently serves as an Assistant Principal in East Aurora School District 131 and brings extensive experience in instructional leadership, student support, and school operations. In her current role, she has supported school improvement planning, led professional learning communities, and worked collaboratively with staff and families to improve student outcomes.
Ramey’s leadership is grounded in relationship-building, equity, and restorative practices. Prior to her current role, she served as a Dean of Students and classroom educator, where she developed a strong foundation in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.
She holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bradley University.
Jennifer Carrillo Named Dean of Students at Simmons Middle School
Carrillo brings experience as both a middle school and high school mathematics teacher and has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success and positive school culture. She currently serves as a mathematics teacher at West Chicago Community High School, where she has taken on leadership roles including serving on safety and hiring committees and collaborating with student services teams to support students.
Carrillo is known for her relationship-centered approach and commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments. She is fluent in Spanish and is dedicated to building strong partnerships with students and families.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Aurora University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from North Central College.
