Officers responded at 12:48 a.m. after ShotSpotter logged multiple gunshots in the 500 block of East Downer Street and in the 100 block of North Union Street. Police found evidence of gunfire in both areas, officials said.

About 30 minutes later, police located and stopped the suspect vehicle, identified using license plate reader technology. Officers recovered a 9mm handgun. The preliminary investigation determined the casings found in both locations were consistent with the live ammunition found inside the car, according to a news release.
