2 In Custody After Man Shot During 'Drug-Related Activity': Aurora PD

The two Aurora men were arrested and charged in relation to a shooting that occurred Aug. 14 in the 300 block of West Galena Boulevard.

AURORA, IL — Two Aurora men were arrested and charged after a man was shot in the arm "due to drug-related activity," according to Aurora police.

Isac J. Vuelvas-Jimenez, 44, of the 1000 block of Indian Avenue, was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Juan J. Haro Beltran, 42, of the 600 block of South Kendall Street, faces five charges:

  • one count of attempted murder
  • one count of aggravated battery with a firearm
  • three counts of armed violence
  • two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with no Firearm Owners Identification card
  • one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver

The charges stem from an incident that occurred Aug. 14 in the 300 block of West Galena Boulevard. Police were dispatched to the scene after a 911 call about shots fired came in around 9:54 p.m., officials said.

While officers and detectives canvassed the area, evidence technicians from the department's Bureau of Investigations responded to investigate the "specific circumstances of the incident."

During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned two of the men arrested were involved in drug-related activities that resulted in a man suffering a single gunshot wound in the left arm, officials said Friday. The victim is in stable condition, according to police.
