2 New Fire Stations To Be Unveiled In Aurora
One of the stations marks Aurora's first fire station to open north of Interstate 88.
AURORA, IL — Aurora is unveiling two new fire stations March 19, including one that will fill a gap on the city's Northeast Side.
The City of Aurora and Aurora Fire Department are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will include stops at both stations, which are opening less than two years after ground broke.
Station 13, located at 1701 Bilter Road, will mark the city's first fire station north of Interstate 88. It's expected to cut firefighters' response time in half, officials said.

The station will feature cutting-edge technology and an updated layout to make operations safer and more efficient. The building will also have specialized ventilation systems for both firefighting gear and vehicle exhaust, in addition to washers and dryers that will help minimize carcinogens that can attach to gear during a fire.
The second new station, no. 9, completes a move from 2339 Diehl Road to 500 N. Eola Road, adding more room for storage of frontline units and improved access to key areas within the building. City officials said this station also further strengthens emergency response capabilities on the Northeast Side.
