2 Shootings Reported Within Hours Of One Another: Aurora Police
Between the two shootings, two juveniles were shot, including one who was listed in critical but stable condition, Aurora police said.
AURORA, IL — Two shootings were reported within hours of one another Monday evening, Aurora police said.
Investigators have not identified anything to suggest the shootings are related or pose any ongoing threat to the community, officials said.
The first was reported at about 6:06 p.m., when members of the Aurora Police Department's Special Operations Group heard gunfire while they were patrolling in the area near Bonner Avenue and North Louks Street. ShotSpotter technology simultaneously detected multiple rounds in the same location, according to a news release.

A few hours later, around 9:10 p.m., police received reports of a second shooting involving two cars driving south on Douglas Avenue near Melrose Avenue.
The preliminary investigation indicated the passengers of a red sedan got involved in an encounter with a dark-colored SUV. The SUV pulled alongside the sedan and fired multiple rounds, and the driver of the sedan fired back before both cars fled the area, according to police.
Two juvenile passengers inside the sedan were shot and taken to a local hospital. One victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to another hospital, where, as of Tuesday night, they remain in critical but stable condition, police said. The second victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury, while the other two occupants were unharmed.
Police have not located the suspected SUV. Detectives continue working to determine whether the occupants or vehicles knew each other before the shooting.
"These incidents reflect the serious risks associated with gun violence," Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas said in a statement. "The presence of officers strategically patrolling in the area allowed for an immediate response in the first incident, helping protect those involved and the surrounding community. Our detectives are actively working to determine what occurred and identify those responsible for both cases while we remain focused on sustained enforcement and long-term violence reduction across the city."
Both shootings remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigations division at 630-256-5500.
