2 Stabbings Reported Over The Weekend In Aurora: Police

Two people were taken into custody for the separate incidents. The charges for one man included attempted first-degree murder, police said.

AURORA, IL — Two stabbings were reported over the weekend in Aurora, leading to the arrest of two men, including one who was charged with first-degree murder, police said.

In the first incident, police were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7 to a residence in the 500 block of Glenview Avenue, where, inside the home, they found a man with stab wounds. First responders rendered emergency aid to the man, who was then taken to a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening wounds, officials said Monday.

Police's investigation determined the stabbing was a result of a "sudden altercation" between acquaintances inside the residence.

The 25-year-old Jose Antonio Perez-Leon, of Aurora, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with battery causing bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The following evening, around 8 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Hammond Avenue for a report of a stabbing. Two adults suffered stab-related injuries, and police coordinated medical care until both were brought to hospitals, according to a news release.

The Sunday incident stemmed from a domestic-related situation involving a behavioral health crisis inside the home, police said.

Dayton Paul Craig, a 23-year-old Aurora man, was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted first-degree murder, domestic battery and multiple counts of aggravated domestic battery.
