AURORA, IL — Two women suffered smoke inhalation after a fire broke out Jan. 31 in the 100 block of Woodlawn Avenue, officials said Tuesday.
The two residents, ages 27 and 28, of one apartment were treated by paramedics and taken to a local hospital in good condition, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

Firefighters "quickly extinguished" the flames and rescued a cat that was trapped inside the house. It was uninjured, officials said.
The building was deemed uninhabitable, prompting the two women to stay with family, crews said. The first-floor resident was out of town at the time of the fire.
