6 Accused Of Looting Aurora Liquor Store During Protest
Six people were charged after police said they stole alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets while a protest was going on downtown.

AURORA, IL — Six people are facing charges after police alleged they stole thousands of dollars in cigarettes, alcohol and lottery tickets from a liquor store on Aurora’s east side while police were clashing with protesters May 31 in downtown Aurora.
Kane County prosecutors allege Frankie Higgins, Erica Higgins, Isiah Stephenson, Tavon Powell and Tramel Foreman — all of Aurora — and Timothy Hill, of North Aurora, broke into the Aurora Spirit & Wine store, located in the 1600 block of Montgomery Road.

Prosecutors allege they smashed a window, causing $1,000 in damage, before stealing about $4,400 worth of alcohol and cigarettes, as well as $4,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets.

The six people who were charged were identified as suspects through surveillance footage, prosecutors said. Each faces one count of burglary and theft, both felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property, according to Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon.
Frankie Higgins, 35, Erica Higgins, 34, and Stephenson, 29, also face charges in connection with looting at the Aurora Walmart on the same night, according to Kane County court records.
