8 Aurora Businesses Cited With Selling Tobacco To Minors: Cops

Police called the investigation a "whirlwind undercover detail."

AURORA, IL -- Eight Aurora businesses were found to be in violation of a city ordinance after selling e-cigarettes or tobacco products to minors without identification, police say. Nearly 50 businesses were checked during the Jan. 31 investigation, which police described as a "whirlwind undercover detail."

In a Facebook post, Aurora police said all 14 businesses that were checked for alcohol compliance asked for identification when they were approached by a minor. Of the 32 businesses checked for tobacco compliance, the following eight were cited:

  • BP Gas in the 1200 block of North Eola
  • Citgo gas stations in the 200 and 600 blocks of South Broadway
  • EZ Mart in the 800 block of Oliver Avenue
  • Golo Gas in the 1100 block of East New York
  • Green Smoke Vape and Tobacco in the 400 block of North Eola
  • 7-Eleven in the 2200 block of South Eola
  • Smoke Plus in the 400 block of North Commons Drive
