AFD Office Coordinator Honored By IL Fire Chiefs Association

AURORA, IL — The Aurora Fire Department's office coordinator was recognized by the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, officials said.

Roseann Hernandez was named the Illinois Fire Service Administrative Professionals' Administrator of the Year in the career category after Chief Dave McCabe nominated her.

"Anyone who has ever met or worked with Roseann [knows] what an asset she is to the AFD and the City of Aurora," Aurora Fire Department officials wrote in an announcement on Facebook. "She always has a can-do attitude, and meets every caller, visitor, and employee with a smile and genuine desire to help that person."

The IFSAP is part of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, which provides training and support for fire service administrators across the state. The nomination considered Hernandez's professional work attributes and contributions to the community, according to a letter from IFCA Vice President Chad Hoefle.

In his letter, he outlined that the committee considers each application based on the individual's personal and professional achievements and accomplishments. Unanimous committee support is needed for a nominee to be recommended for the Administrator of the Year award.

Hernandez will be recognized at the IFSAP annual banquet and award ceremony Dec. 15.

"On behalf of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, I would like to congratulate you on this prestigious award," Hoefle wrote.
