Apartment On Aurora's West Side Destroyed In Fire: AFD
None of the residents of the unit that was ablaze Nov. 1 were home at the time, officials said.

AURORA, IL — An apartment building on Aurora's west side was deemed uninhabitable after a fire broke out late on Nov. 1, according to Aurora Fire Department officials.
A total of four engines, two trucks, two medics and three battalion chiefs were dispatched at 11:39 p.m. to a two-story, multi-unit building in the 1400 block of North Glen Circle. A resident of one of the units placed the call, reporting smoke showing from the building.
Once at the building, crews found smoke-stained windows in a unit in the back. Engine crews forced their way into an apartment where smoke appeared and began searching for a fire, officials said.

Around the same time, a different engine company took a charged hand line and forced open the door to a different unit, finding heavy smoke conditions and a fire in the kitchen, according to a news release posted Tuesday on Facebook.
While some firefighters extinguished the fire in the kitchen, truck companies searched for victims, finding none. Crews later determined none of the residents of the unit where the fire broke out were home at the time, officials said.
