Aurora Construction Company Awarded Contract With New Hollywood Casino

The veteran-owned company was selected to move the demolition spoils from the properties torn down to make way for the new resort.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora-based, veteran-owned company was awarded a contract to work on the new Hollywood Casino project in Aurora.

Viking Brothers, Inc., which specializes in construction transportation, was contracted to remove the demolition spoils from the properties town down to make way for the new $360 million resort at Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road. The company was founded in 1988 by Craig and Kevin Melby.

The grounds of the new casino, replacing the current riverboat casino on the Fox River in downtown Aurora, will include state-of-the-art gaming, a four-star hotel, a full-service spa, gourmet restaurants and bars as well as meeting and event space.

"As a lifelong Auroran with 35 years of experience in the business, it was an honor to work on this project," said Craig Melby, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Mayor Richard Irvin and representatives from casino parent company Penn Entertainment, including Greg Moore, the vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino, visited the company's headquarters at 1665 Eastwood Drive in Aurora Friday morning for an award presentation for work done on the project.

"The Hollywood Casino project is the largest economic development initiative our city has seen in generations," Irvin said in a statement. "It is important to my administration that Aurora businesses are a part of the process. I applaud PENN Entertainment for selecting Viking Brothers, Inc., and I applaud Craig Melby and his team for a job well done. This is just the beginning."
