Aurora Cops Find Rifle, Over 800 Rounds Of Ammo In Man's Car: PD

Police say the man told them he was holding the guns and ammo for a friend.

AURORA, IL — Aurora police seized a rifle and several rounds of armor-piercing bullets from a South Elgin man's vehicle during a traffic stop Wednesday. Ryan Harnish, 38, was charged with multiple felony weapons charges in connection with the incident.

Police say they discovered a duffel bag with more than 800 rounds of ammunition in it in Harnish's trunk. Harnish told police he was holding the rifle and ammo for a friend.

Harnish has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, unlawful use of firearm projectiles, and possession of a firearm without a FOID card.
