Aurora Cops, Firefighter Save Woman Swept Up In Fox River

Police dashed down to the bank of the river to pull the woman to safety.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora woman has another chance at life after four Aurora first responders pulled her from the the Fox River Friday evening. The woman was spotted around 9:30 p.m. caught up in the river's currents, which had become stronger due to recent heavy rainfall.

Officer Shane Leadbetter, Officer Jason Contreras, Sgt. Jeff Talley, and, Aurora Fire Department Lieutenant Steve Buono got to the scene and posted up on bridges downstream until they spotted the woman. They then dashed down to the bank of the river and were able to quickly grab the woman and pull her to safety.

She was conscious and still breathing when she was taken to a nearby hospital.
