Aurora Cops Seize Over 60 Grams Of Coke In Drug Raid

Police say the suspect was one of the men charged in the 2011 drug and gang sting called "Operation Fallen Angel."

AURORA, IL — Aurora police say they seized more than 60 grams of cocaine, along with ecstasy pills and other drug paraphernalia while searching a home Thursday evening. Police arrested Markus Russell, 31, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, in connection with the incident.

Russell has been on federal probation after a 2011 arrest in which he was one of 12 charged in "Operation Fallen Angel," a wide-ranging gang and drug sting led by Aurora Police and the FBI.

After Thursday's arrest, Russell was charged with felony counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of ecstasy in connection with the incident.

Police say they came to Russell's home with a search warrant around 6:15 p.m. While inside Russell's home, they found "discovered just over 60 grams of powder and crack cocaine, two ecstasy pills, and other drug-related equipment," according to a news release.

Russell was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at Kane County Jail.
