Aurora To Empower Youth With Resource Fair, Leadership Summit

The programs are part of an ongoing initiative to get Aurora youth engaged in their communities.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will host a Youth and Family Resource Fair and a Youth Leadership Summit as part of an ongoing initiative to empower school-aged children to get involved in their community. The leadership summit is set for Sept 21 at Prisco Community Center and is open to children in 7th and 8th grades. The Youth and Family Resource Fair will be held on Sept. 25.

Students will learn how to set goals, resolve conflicts, and take initiatives at the 2019 Youth Leadership Summit. The summit will include remarks from Aurora Youth Council's Simon Rodriguez. Click the link to sign up for the Sept. 21 Youth Leadership Summit.

Students and their families are invited to take part in the city's Youth and Family Resource Fair on Sept. 25. More then two dozen local organizations will be on hand at East Aurora High School's Ponquinette Fieldhouse from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to offer info about how kids and their parents can get involved in the community.

Raffle prizes and performances will add a bit of fun to the resource fair.

"What we do now to empower [Aurora's Youth] can have a direct impact on our city, country and world," Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin said in a statement.
