Police say Malachi Hurt, 27, was on parole when he threw a loaded .45-caliber gun out of his car.

AURORA, IL -- An Aurora man and admitted gang member is facing prison time after he tossed a loaded gun out of his car window, police say. Malachi Hurt, 27, who was on parole at the time of the alleged April 29 incident, has been charged with felony counts of being an armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member and felon, and unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID.
Police say they were patrolling the area near Harbor Village Apartments in the 1300 block of Pearl Street when they tried to pull over Hurt, who was driving with a suspended license. Before Hurt stopped, police say he threw a .45-caliber Taurus handgun from his car window. The gun was found by other officers at the scene and was determined to be loaded.
Hurt is currently in custody in Kane County Jail.
