Aurora First Fridays Honors Women With Art, Music In March

AURORA, IL — Aurora First Fridays will dedicate its March 6, 2020 session to honoring the 100th anniversary of the women's suffrage movement ahead of International Women's Day. The female-inspired installment will feature an all-woman horn ensemble, hands-on STEAM activities and other art and music presentations throughout downtown Aurora.

All-Female Horn Ensemble at Santori Public Library

101 S. River St. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The all-female Alloy Horn Quartet will set the stage for a historical exhibit from Aurora's League of Women Voters and the Kane County Audubon Society.

Aurora Public Art Hosts ShePunk Fest

20 E. Downer Pl. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

ShePunk Fest offers punk music, fierce female poetry, zines art and more. $5 suggested donation.

"The Woman Show" At Balderas Beauty Salon

25 N. Broadway from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The festivities include live body painting, DJ music and a photography exhibit.

Gary Brown Gallery and Studio: Paintings by Andrew Zabela-Zabelin

7 S. Broadway from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A master oil painter will share their works and visitors can create their own artwork on a large board dedicated to the memory of women's suffrage.

Gremlen Recording Studios' All-Female Showcase

130 W. Downer Pl. from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The all-woman musical showcase features Olivia Ports, Michelle Curiel, Charmaine Makeda and Mayor's Kids.

Tribal Dancing At Zen Loft Wellness Center

6 W. Downer Pl. at 7 p.m.

American Tribal Style Sisterhood Cooperation featuring Camelia Danza Tribal will show off an improvisational style of belly dancing that revolves around "sisterhood, cooperation and unity."

Be a Part of History: Photo Station At Aurora Regional Fire Museum

53 N. Broadway from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Use props and the museum's brick background to recreate your own historical fire department photo.

“Self-Care Practices for Moms” At Paramount School of the Arts

20 S. Stolp Ave. 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Perch will help moms learn to develop a self-care routine both in and out of the home.
