Aurora Infant On Life Support After Mother Accused Of Beating Him

Police arrived to find the 6-month-old unconscious and not breathing.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora woman has been charged with battery to her 6-month old son, who has been on life support since Friday. Police say Trivea S. Jones, 23, 0f the 2000 block of Fox Pointe Drive, admitted to "battering the child against a piece of furniture and leaving him unconscious on the floor for some time before asking a neighbor to call 911.

When police got to the scene, the child was unconscious and was not breathing. The child was airlifted to a trauma center in Chicago, according to a news release.

Police say that Jones first told them that her son had stopped breathing while he was eating, but police notice the infant had a fractured skull and had endured "severe trauma." It was later that Jones admitted to batttering the child, according to police.

Police say they do not have information about whether the child will survive, but are in contact with the trauma center and may pursue additional charges if the child's condition worsens.

Jones is currently in custody at Kane County Jail.
