Aurora Man, 63, Sexually Assaulted Child For 12 Years: Mosser

AURORA, IL — A 63-year-old Aurora man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a child for 12 years, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Lewis T. Richardson, of the 1600 block of Park Vista Lane, was convicted of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The man had sexual contact with a child he knew — she was younger than 13 years old — between June 2005 and June 2017, officials said.

"I'm proud of this victim for the courage she showed in confronting her abuser and telling her story, and I'm grateful to her for the trust she showed in us," Assistant State's Attorney Matthew Rogers said in a statement.

Richardson faces a minimum sentence of 12 years in prison and will be required to register as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Judge Elizabeth Flood revoked Richardson's bond upon conviction, and he was taken into custody at the Kane County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 1.
