Aurora Man Charged As Armed Habitual Criminal

AURORA, IL - An Aurora man has been sentenced to 8 years in prison as an armed habitual criminal after being charged for multiple gun offenses over the past 10 years. Marcus T. Walker, 32, was convicted as an armed habitual criminal on April 23, 2019, after allegedly illegally possessing a gun in 2016, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Police say Walker's first gun offense happened in 2009 when he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. In 2012, Walker served prison time for another charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Walker was taken into custody on Oct. 5, 2016, after police say he admitted to possessing a gun he knew he was prohibited from having due to his prior gun convictions.

Walker, who has been in custody in the Kane County Jail since his arrest, gets time for more than 1,000 days and must serve 85 percent of the remainder of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
