James Malone, 29, is accused of having alcohol, THC, and methamphetamines in his system at the time of the fatal crash.

AURORA, IL — A 29-year-old Aurora man is facing felony charges in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a 32-year-old Kankakee man Saturday afternoon. Police say James Malone, 29, of the 800 block of Fifth Street, had alcohol, methamphetamines, and THC in his system at the time of the crash, which killed his passenger, Gus Bester.
Police say Malone was driving a 1987 Chevy Caprice east on Sherman Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree outside of a home near Pearl Street. Bester was pinned inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Malone suffered minor injuries, police say, and was taken to Kane County Jail. He has been charged with reckless homicide and DUI, in addition to other traffic offenses. In a post on social media, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said Malone's blood-alcohol concentration was .212.
